Here is my autumn vlog offering about powerful personal transformation induced through simple walks and experiences in the forest. I was inspired by the splendor of the forest colors this year and the following poem forwarded to me by several friends. It is an affirmation about how far we have come and a humble love offering. You Have Become a Forest “One day when you wake up, you will find that you have become a forest. You have grown roots and found strength in them that n

I have loved and appreciated so many articles and newsletters with solid suggestions of how to stay healthy and sane during this quarantine – keep hydrated, move your body, breathe, nutrition, wash yer paws, smell exquisite things, keep busy with those long overdue projects or be gentle with yourself when hours and days slip by with nary a single productive task crossed off the to do list, and limit the intake of negative media. Yes, to all of these. Let’s include pleasure,
After all, sunshine, bright crisp air, steaming hot peppermint tea laced thick with honey, and exploring mysterious bogs are still advised, are they not? We went to the bog to dream. We knew glorious creatures hid under the spring half ice and green. Lurking in the water weeds just under the mosses. Fae and feral things who cast visions sometimes shadow or light. But always true. We knew because we could feel them buzzing. And hear the pleasing sounds of water lapping on
October in the woods in SW Michigan, just minutes from my Three Oaks home… Moving from the heated expansiveness of summer, a refreshing and introspective autumnal forest calls. Come walk and linger, enjoy scents and colors, experiencing the restoration and inspiration of the trees, plants, and earth. The shadows are long and the days shorter, heightening our pleasure of the moment. Falling leaves reveal the skeleton of a tree. Scent of decaying leaves is both dank and swe
Was it the new moon? Already? And a spring new moon! Time to plant seeds of intention! If it wasn’t for my dear friend and aromatherapist, Miriam, (Kindred Earth Botanicals) reminding me of our shared monthly new moon mermaid card spread ritual, I’d have missed it in the frenzy of all my doing and then subsequent crashing overwhelm in the form of a nasty cold. I’m doing and busy and running and late… Trying to do all the things. And be all the things to all the people I ho
My favorite forest primeval, Warren Woods State Park, lies sleeping under a blanket of snow and the spell of winter. I am out in the woods, practicing winter Shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing” – a nature inspired body-mind spiritual practice. By experiencing the winter forest in a liminal meditation state, through my senses, and without agenda, I’m connecting with nature and practicing meditation in motion. The simple and dreamy practice of Shinrin-yoku comes from Japan and is
Happy New Year! New Year’s Eve finds me pausing for a moment with my bulletproof coffee loving my 2017 engagement calendar. All those clean empty pages. A year of possibility with opportunity for beauty. Sprinkle that faerie dust round. Happy New Year, one and all! My Ill-Advised Life In January of 2016 I foreclosed on my underwater condo in Chicago and went free range faerie. I quit my jobs and hit the road with my 9 year old pup, Missy. It was not clearly planned and
The return of light, may yours sparkle and delight! My sincerest wish that you shine your inner light on your dreams and your unique beauty. Let the rest stay in the darkness… Bring forth your beauty! Here’s a free range faerie location update. Missy and I have been in a little cottage in Michigan where we are staying for three months! It is the longest we have stayed anywhere since last February. We love it. We go for long nearly daily walks in nearby Grand Mere State P
An Earth Day Reading Recommendation Stephan Harrod Buhner’s book, Plant Intelligence and the Imaginal Realm, gently and with humor encourages us to become wild scientists, and undomesticated explorers of the Gaian world. We are not so separate from Gaia from and a plague on this earth, as we are often chastised as being. And by connecting and feeling and dreaming into the earth we can consciously open doors of perception and reconnect with nature as kindred beings. If you a
If a faerie made perfumes
How would she blend?
Would she tincture the green of a violet stem
In dew from the tip of a fern of the deep,
Deep, dark woods
So cool and fecund?
Yes, she should.
At midnight she'd enchant a single blossom of jasmine.
Coax out it's ethers with her giggling spells,
A puff and a whir,
Yes, might as well.
She'd surely use cepes and oakmoss galore
All seamlessly earthy and rich.
Seductively luring their sacred aromas
Into small crystal vi

The summer’s song all in your heart
Makes loss or sadness fast depart.
~ Doreen Stelton There is such a feeling by late August. Creamy and bright. The excitement of the spring blooms have mellowed and the verdancy of summer is familiarly sweet. Cicadas, crickets, and birds serenade. Even when feeling the slightest bit low, just lie on the beautiful earth and listen and breathe. Soa
It is still the time of the dragon. Synchronistic unfoldment. The new moon is Friday – let the fire drake clear space for the new. Do some nice yogic twists and exhale deeply. Burn through those things that no longer serve. Some dragon sightings include; Fire drake appears in a card reading Exotic photos a friend sends captioned as gargoyles (dragons) And posts about dragons- Dragons In Trees, by Friendly Fairy Tales There were more that slip my mind at present. We need more beauty, and liberation! I know I always and ever do. Having an opportunity for both I escaped to Koehler, Wisconsin. Exploring an Austrian mansion plunked down in the woods with a wildflower prarie for a backyard cozied inside a loopsy curve in the Sheboygen River. Called River Bend, built by Koehler as his Governor’s house. The inspiration for the mansion was this Shakespeare quote, “Tongues in trees, books in the running brooks.” I spent my time meditating
Do you ever wonder why it is you don’t exactly totally fit in? Do you ever unroll your yoga mat to find glitter on it? I have wondered this a lot. “What the bleep is the matter with me?” Is one of the more harsh ponders. A preferred thought thread is, “Wait. What is that wild feeling inside of me? Maybe I should go dance naked on the dewy grass at dusk to feed it.” I have found glitter on my yoga mat. And I have always loved faeries a lot. me (today) with a mural painte
